About

Youth in Action is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) dedicated to providing holistic development programs for individuals under 23 years old. The organization combines sports, music, drama, and dance to foster personal growth, creativity, teamwork, and leadership. By offering accessible, inclusive, and transformative opportunities, the NPO aims to empower young people to reach their full potential and contribute positively to their communities.

Our vision is to create a supportive environment where young individuals from diverse backgrounds can explore their passions, hone their talents, and develop essential life skills. Through mentorship, structured programs, and performance-based activities, we aim to nurture the next generation of leaders, artists, and athletes.

Target audience

Age Group: 13–23 years old
Geography: Local community focus with potential regional outreach
Demographics: Youth from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, with a focus on underserved communities
Interests: Sports, music, drama, dance, community service, personal development

Goals

Youth Engagement:

  • To enrol at least 250 young individuals (ages 13–23) in sports, music, drama, and dance programs annually.

  • To provide a welcoming environment for underserved communities, ensuring equal access to all programs regardless of socioeconomic background.

Talent Development:

  • To help participants develop skills in their chosen area—sports, music, drama, or dance—by offering expert-led training, workshops, and performance opportunities.

  • To establish mentorship and internship programs with professionals in the arts and sports sectors, providing real-world exposure and career opportunities.

Life Skills Empowerment:

  • To promote the development of essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, leadership, communication, and resilience through all programs.

  • To host workshops on mental health, wellness, and personal growth, emphasizing holistic development.

Community Impact:

  • To create a network of engaged young people who contribute to their communities through volunteering, leadership, and cultural exchange.

  • To host community events, performances, and competitions that bring together families, friends, and local businesses to support youth talent.

Dance Programs:

  • Hip-hop, ballet, and contemporary dance classes

  • Choreography development and dance competitions

  • Dance performance opportunities

Drama Programs:

  • Acting classes, improv workshops, and community theatre productions

  • Public speaking and communication training

  • Script writing and directing opportunities

Music Programs:

  • Instrumental lessons (guitar, piano, drums)

  • Vocal coaching and choir participation

  • Music production and sound engineering workshops

Facilities

  • Community centre or dedicated spaces for each discipline (sports courts, music rooms, rehearsal spaces)

  • Outdoor sports field

  • Studio space for dance and drama classes and rehearsals

Neville Geoffery

Neville has been leading New Covenant Church since June 1996. He completed his Theological Studies in 1995. While leading the church, he has made significant inroads into the community and has been involved in various civic organizations.

Neville’s passion is to empower and train leaders with a strong emphasis on character formation. He has travelled to 25 nations around the world, many being primarily third-world countries. He has a strong desire to see the next generation empowered and hopes to pass the baton successfully to ensure continuity and a lasting legacy. By nature a visionary, he seeks to pioneer new avenues and creative ways to reach out to youth.

Ravie Pillay

Ravie has been working actively in the community for more than 25 years. He has sacrificially and selflessly served his community. Community members can attest to his unwavering commitment. Ravie has completed his formal education and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development (UNISA).

Ravie often steps in to counsel individuals facing substance abuse, family breakdowns, or other personal issues. He emphasizes the importance of support structures and has even offered his services to the Legal Fraternity and Family Court. Around a year and a half ago, Ravie resigned from his job to dedicate himself fully to serving the community without financial compensation—this has been a walk of faith.

Paul Geoffery

From childhood, Paul displayed musical aptitude despite having no formal training. Over the past 13 years, he has trained students and developed his expertise. He passionately shares his skills to empower budding musicians. Despite financial challenges, he remains committed to supporting his students.

His expertise includes:
